Building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
This semester, I served as a "squad leader" for the College of Education and welcomed new students to our program. We emphasized community, commitment, and collaboration within our squads and aimed to show incoming students what being a teacher is all about. With these goals in mind, I orchestrated a lesson about the importance of building caring, trusting relationships with the different groups of people teachers interact with on a daily basis. Below you will find an outline of our discussion topics during the meeting as well as some other resources that were incorporated in the lesson to make it more meaningful! (The phone call scripts and article written from a parent perspective are both from outside sources, I take absolutely no credit for them.)
